Water, air, wood, sugar, cotton, books etc., all consists of matter.
STATES OF MATTER
Matter can exist in three states:
1.Solid state 2.Liquid state 3.Gaseous state
1.The matter that occupies a definite space and has definite shape is called a solid.
2.The matter that occupies a definite space but has no definite shape is called a liquid.
3.The matter that neither occupies a definite space nor has a definite shape is called a gas.
For examples, water can exist as ice(solid state), water(liquid state) and steam(gaseous state).
